At Tekdis, we’re excited to share that Semtech (formerly Sierra Wireless) has expanded its AirLink® Management Service (ALMS) platform with a new regional instance in Australia. Following the successful launch of a Canadian instance earlier this year, this addition reflects Semtech’s dedication to offering enhanced flexibility, security, and control to AirLink router users globally, including our valued customers.
What is ALMS?
Semtech’s AirLink® Management Service (ALMS) is a robust cloud management platform designed specifically for AirLink routers. Acting as a network control centre, ALMS enables remote registration, configuration, management, security, and troubleshooting of router fleets.
With ALMS, our customers can:
Efficiently register and pre-configure routers at scale.
Proactively monitor deployed routers using interactive, customizable dashboards.
Seamlessly deploy firmware and security updates over-the-air with a few simple clicks.
Additionally, ALMS serves as a ‘System of Record,’ tracking essential dates related to each router. This includes alerts for support and warranty expiration, ensuring timely renewals and streamlined fleet management.
Why Local Instances Matter
- Data Residency: Ensures data is processed and stored close to its origin, supporting compliance with policies or regulatory standards. Our data residency policies mean that account, router, and user data for APAC customers remain within the Australian instance, maintaining data integrity within the region.
- Higher Availability and Redundancy: Each ALMS instance is hosted across three AWS Availability Zones within each region, ensuring enhanced resilience against system failures and natural disasters. Daily data backups within each AWS region further reduce the risk of data loss.
Delivering Maximum Flexibility and Control
The addition of the ALMS APAC instance, following the Canadian launch, reflects our commitment to a strong ALMS data residency strategy. Earlier this year, Semtech also introduced the ALMS Hybrid Cloud option, giving customers the option to combine cloud flexibility with on-premises security using their own PKI infrastructure. The new ALMS instance in Australia marks another step forward in our mission to deliver tailored, comprehensive management solutions for our customers.
